President Donald Trump scored another strong night for his endorsed candidates, with eight of his nine picks winning their races.
Trump touted the results in a post, writing that it was “another good night for Endorsements, 8-1,” while noting that the lone loss came from a candidate he said he remained loyal to despite having “virtually no chance of winning.”
He also pointed out that the candidate who won is Pro-Trump.
Last night was another good night for Endorsements, 8-1, and the 1 was a person who I remained loyal to even though he had virtually no chance of winning, and was running against a Great “Trump” Candidate, and former Agricultural Commissioner of Tennessee, named Charlie Hatcher. Good luck Charlie! Run tough and hard. You have my Complete and Total Endorsement! President DONALD J. TRUMP
The one Trump-backed candidate who lost was Rep Andy Ogles.
Ogles lost to Charlie Hatcher, the former state agricultural commissioner.
Two-term Rep. Andy Ogles lost the Republican primary for his Tennessee House seat, The Associated Press projects, despite securing an endorsement from President Trump.
With virtually all of the vote counted in Thursday’s primary, Hatcher led Ogles by just over six percentage points, according to unofficial results released by the state.
With just over 80% of votes counted in Thursday’s primary, Ogles trailed former state Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher by just over six points, according to results compiled by The AP.
Trump’s endorsement record remains strong.
