Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Josh Turek missed 261 votes in the Iowa House during the 2026 legislative session, according to legislative voting records.
From Jan. 12 through May 3, Turek missed approximately 58% of House votes during the session.
During the same period, Turek received tens of thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded benefits provided to Iowa state legislators.
Turek is the Democrat nominee for U.S. Senate in Iowa.

Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, the Republican Senate nominee, blasted her Democratic opponent, state Rep. Josh Turek, D-Iowa, for missing 58% of House votes during the 2026 session while receiving tens of thousands of dollars in taxpayer benefits given to state legislators.

Hinson’s comments came after Fox News Digital previously reported that Turek missed 261 of the chamber’s votes between Jan. 12 and May 3, amounting to a nearly 60% absence rate.
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Josh Turek missed 12 Iowa House votes between March 25 and March 31, while reportedly raising $43,000 from donors in California during the same period.
Earlier in the session, Turek missed 16 House votes between Feb. 17 and March 23. During that period, he reportedly raised $36,500 from donors in Washington, D.C.
Combined, Turek missed 28 House votes across those periods while reportedly receiving nearly $80,000 in contributions from donors.
Some of Turek’s absences occurred while he was campaigning and fundraising outside Iowa, an analysis in the report showed.
Between March 25 and March 31, Turek missed 12 House votes while his campaign raised approximately $43,000 from donors in Southern California. Campaign records cited in the report also showed hotel expenses in Los Angeles during that period.
One of the missed votes concerned legislation involving rural health care and medical licensing.
Turek also missed 16 votes between Feb. 17 and March 23 while his campaign raised approximately $36,500 from donors in Washington, D.C.
Trump called the revelations “big news.”
